Biostatistics and Clinical Trials

 

Assessment of Automated Hematology Equipment.  Designed and analyzed data evaluating an automated blood analyzer.  Examined method equivalence, linearity, repeatability, and compliance with FDA requirements for automated hematology analyzer, following established clinical protocols.

 

Analgesia Procedures for Knee Surgery.  Assessed relative effectiveness of different analgesia procedures among patients undergoing knee surgery.

 

Evaluation of Hip Replacement Surgery.  Utilized survival analysis to assess the likelihood of complications from hip replacement surgery.

 

Response to Carpal Tunnel Therapy.  Identified occupational factors associated with response to therapies for carpal tunnel therapy.

 

Analysis of Medication for the Treatment of Alzheimer’s Disease.  Analyzed data from unsuccessful Phase II Clinical Trial to identify populations and contexts in which medication might have had greater efficacy.

 

Protective Factors and Anemia during Pregnancy.  Analyzed data identifying genetic factors that reduce the risk of anemia among pregnant women.

 

Trials of Cognitive Rehabilitation Program (Elderly).  Evaluated efficacy of program to reduce age-related change in cognitive abilities among elderly patients.

 

Trials of Cognitive Rehabilitation Program (Brain Injury).  Evaluated efficacy of program to reduce the impact of brain injury on cognitive abilities and quality of life among adults.

 

Incidence of Premature Mortality.  Analyzed frequency of premature mortality from natural causes among psychiatric patients compared with population rates.

 

Sleep Disorders and Cancer Treatment.  Analyzed data on differential response of patient with pre-morbid sleep disorders and matched controls to cancer treatments.

 

Prediction of Violent Offending Among Psychiatric Patients.  Created analysis plan to compare algorithms for the prediction of violent offending among psychiatric patients; assisted in the evaluation of the algorithms through analysis of sensitivity and specificity.  Compared positive predictive value and negative predictive value of algorithms.

 

Survival Analysis and Cardiovascular Disease.  Conducted survival analysis to identify risk factors predicting clinical outcomes among patients with cardiovascular disease.

 

Breast Cancer Diagnosis.  Evaluated the Receiver Operating Characteristics of different algorithms for combining ultrasound and mammography data.

 

Diagnostic Accuracy Study.  Assessed accuracy and agreement between different methods of identifying orthodontic problems.

 

Meta-Analysis of Single Case Studies.  Assisted medical researcher with analysis of database constructed from single-case studies to identify predictors of clinical outcomes.

 

Elimination of Food-Borne Pathogens.  Assessment of the efficacy of procedures to eliminate Yesinia bacteria under varying growth temperatures and conditions.

 

Adjustment to Surgery.  Examined the relationship between pre-operative anxiety and depression and post-operative adjustment to surgery.

 

Prevention Trails.  Analyzed data for the evaluation of a multi-year school and home based interventions to reduce aggressive behavior and depression among elementary school children using Hierarchical Linear Modeling.

 

Stress Management. Analyzed data for a multi-site evaluation of stress management programs for medical students.

 

Medical Intern Education.  Examined the impact of changes in working conditions on the knowledge and skills of medical interns.
